Assoc. Prof. Simeon Groysman, PhD, is Chair of the Governing Board of the Bulgarian Association for Philosophy of Law and Social and Political Philosophy. Since 2019, he has been teaching the course Philosophy of Law at the Faculty of Law of Sofia University.
Simeon Groysman teaches General Theory of Law and General Theory of the State at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (since 2012) and at the Academy of the Ministry of Interior of Bulgaria (since 2018). In 2016, he received his PhD in Law with a dissertation in legal theory examining the relationship between morality and legal validity. In 2020, he qualified as Associate Professor in General Theory of Law with a habilitation thesis entitled “Law and Power: From the Unlimited State to the Postmodern Supremacy of Rights”.
His research interests are in the field of philosophy of law, theory of law and the state, and the interactions between law and religion. He is the author of more than 50 scientific publications in Bulgarian, English, and Russian (list), most of which are available online (see here).
He is the founder and lecturer of Bulgaria’s first university course on Law and Religion, offered since 2020 within the Master’s programme Protection of Fundamental Rights at the Faculty of Law of Sofia University.
He was Scientific Secretary of the Faculty of Law of Sofia University from 2016 to 2020.
He is Scientific Secretary and Member of the Editorial Board of the journal Contemporary Law, the official publication of the Faculty of Law of Sofia University.
