Prof. Dr. Yanaki Stoilov is a long-standing member of the Bulgarian section of the International Association for Philosophy of Law.
He has been teaching General Theory of Law, General Theory of  State, Political Science, and Human Rights Protection at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski for more than 40 years. He began his teaching and research career as an assistant at the same university. In 2002, he qualified as an associate professor in General Theory of Law, and in 2018 he was elected professor. In addition to Sofia University, he also teaches at Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski” and, for several months in 2018, in Semey, Kazakhstan. He is an honorary professor at Jiaotong University in Shanghai, China (2016-2024).
Head of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law at the Faculty of Law of Sofia University “St. Kl. Ohridski” from 2019 to 2021.
He is an honorary professor at Jiaotong University in Shanghai, China (2016-2024).
He is the author of the monographs State Power: Legal and Political Distinctions and Correlations, Legal Principles: Theory and Application, scientific studies, and numerous articles in Bulgarian and foreign specialized publications.
He was elected as a member of parliament in several parliaments: in the Seventh Grand National Assembly (1990-1991), as well as in a number of subsequent legislatures, serving as its deputy chairman in the 43rd National Assembly (2014-2017).
In 2021, he was Minister of Justice in the interim government of the Republic of Bulgaria, and at the end of the same year, he was appointed constitutional judge.
